The myth I have selected is about Artemis, the great Olympian Goddess of hunt, wilderness, childbirth, fertility and young girls, bringing and relieving disease in women.
She was the daughter of Zeus and Leto, and was depicted as a huntress carrying a bow and arrows and also known with a crescent of a moon above her head.
She would roam mountain forests and uncultivated land with her nymphs in attendance, hunting lions, panthers, hinds and stags, wearing girlish knee length tunic. Sometimes a stag or hunting dog was represented with her.
Artemis was very possessive and would show her wrath on anyone who disobeyed her wishes, especially against her sacred animals.
The story I am basing my Tableau Vivant on his about the hunter Aktaion who came across the goddess bathing in a stream. Angered by the encounter she turned him into a stag. His hunting dogs tore him into pieces.
